Demonstration Classrooms

Kids in a classroomTwo innovative classrooms are located at Project Enlightenment. The use of research-based best practices in early childhood education makes both of them excellent training sites for hundreds of educators, parents and others in the early childhood community each year. These classrooms serve children the year prior to kindergarten eligibility.

  • The Demonstration Preschool (DPS) is an inclusive half-day pre-kindergarten classroom. It serves both children with developmental and/or social-emotional concerns and typically developing children. For information about current tuition rates and application instructions, call 919-856-7774.
  • The Family Literacy Classroom (FLC) is a full-day classroom serving students funded by Title 1 and NC PreK. It emphasizes research-based early literacy practices. Students are assigned to this classroom by the Wake County Public School System. For an application to this program call 919-851-9550 and ask for a universal application.

Through planned observation classes, the two preschool classrooms serve as a training center to help teachers and child care providers develop positive strategies for enhancing their own classrooms.
