Preschool
Project Enlightenment offers preschool programs that help young children learn, play, and grow. Our classrooms are caring places where children build skills for school and life. Children learn through play, stories, music, art, movement, outdoor time, and time with friends.
Project Enlightenment has two Pre-K classrooms. Both classrooms use research-based teaching practices. Teachers plan activities that support each child’s learning, growth, and social skills.
Children take part in:
- Circle time
- Center play
- Small group activities
- Art, music, and movement
- Outdoor play
- Meals and snacks
- Storytime
- Book checkout from the library
Both preschool classrooms are also used as observation classrooms. Teachers and families may have opportunities to observe early childhood best practices. Preschool educators from other schools visit to learn best practices in early childhood education. These visits help adults see how young children learn through play, routines, and positive relationships.
Demonstration Preschool
The Demonstration Preschool classroom is a half-day program for children who are 4 years old and are not yet old enough for kindergarten.
Families may apply during the application period each year. Applications are usually available in late January or February for the next school year. For more information, call 919-856-7774.
Blended Pre-K Classroom
The Blended Pre-K classroom is a full-day preschool that serves children through Title I, NC Pre-K, and WCPSS Preschool Special Education Services.
Students are assigned to this classroom through Wake County Public School System programs. Families who want to apply for NC Pre-K should complete the Wake Pre-K application.
