Ready-to-Learn Centers

Ready to Learn Centers are currently located in eleven elementary schools in Wake County and operate in accordance with the Wake County Public School System's established calendar at each school. Seven of the programs operate on a traditional school calendar. The centers at Hodge Road, Wilburn and Walnut Creek operate on the year 'round schedule - Track 4 and Carver operates on a modified year 'round schedule. The center that was at Jones Dairy Elementary School has moved to Walnut Creek Elementary School.

Please note that the Wake County Public School System Inclement Weather Plan also pertains to each center.

Each Ready To Learn Center provides high quality, developmentally appropriate, early childhood learning experiences through a supportive and cooperative partnership between families and early childhood professionals.

The goals of the program are to encourage the healthy development and educational success of all participating children and to increase the capacity of families to serve as the primary nurturers, teachers and advocates for their children.  We achieve these goals by offering the following: parent/child developmental play groups, developmental screenings, parent education, and referrals to community programs and agencies. Each center offers a variety of programs for different age groups (18 months to kindergarten eligibility).

For more information about programs available at each center choose a tab to the left. Classes are listed by title and age group.
